Mammoth Trip – March 8th – 11th

It is snowing again in Mammoth and we have room on our 3-day to Mammoth. We have reserved the condo for 3 nights: Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. So for a change, instead of leaving early to drive home on Sunday, we stay until Monday and leave after we are done skiing on Monday.

Cost is only $152 per person, so for only $32 more you get to ski an additional full, uncrowded day at Mammoth. Trip coordinator is Scott Anderson, cc’d above. So email him or call Scott and let him know you are going to go. Remember, your check in Scott’s hand is your reservation and it is first come, first served.

This will be a fantastic trip, so call Scott now so we reserve enough condo rooms!

Winery Bike Ride – May 12th

Join us Saturday May 12th, 2012, in Solvang/Santa Ynez for a bike ride and wine tasting. Enjoy biking with your friends and enjoying the scenery along the way as the Santa Ynez Valley is beautiful this year with all the recent rains. We are planning to do the Solvang – Los Olivos loop going to the Gainey, Bridlewood, Brander and Roblar wineries and then to the town of Los Olivos where there are 25 tasting rooms within a 2 block radius including Arthur Earl, Andrew Murray, Longoria, Tercero, Byron and Pacific Ridge, ending back at Solvang.

To carpool, either meet between 8:00 & 8:30 AM at the Vons Parking Lot, Seaward and Harbor in Ventura. Going North on the 101, get off at the Seaward off ramp turning left towards the Ocean. Make a left on Harbor and a right into the parking lot between Carrows and the bank. We will leave promptly at 8:30 AM.

Or meet us in Solvang, at the VFW parking lot in Solvang by the Police Station on CA 246 on the east side of Solvang at 10:00 AM. Bring your bike, water and something for lunch, or you can grab something at one of the wineries.

We are also looking for someone interested in being the SAG vehicle. This will depend on the number of people interested in riding. This would be someone interested in going up there for the day but not wanting to ride or only interested in doing part of the ride. They would be in charge of storing any purchases along the way, picking up tired bikers, and taking our lunches to the designated winery.

Newbury Park Hike – April 14th

Join your hiking friends in Newbury Park for a morning of hiking!

The hike is split into three parts. The first part will go to Sycamore Canyon
Falls in Point Mugu State Park. The falls should be gorgeous with all
of the recent rains. The second part of the hike is a climb up to the
Hidden Valley Overlook with views of the Conejo Valley. And finally
for the really ambitious among you, there is a stair climb and decent
which ends at the Satwiwa Cultural Center. The combination of all
three hikes will be about 6 miles, so bring good shoes, water and a
snack. Afterwards we will meet for lunch in Camarillo.

Details: 9AM Saturday , April 14th, 2012
Meet at 8:15AM at the Camarillo Park and Ride [more info] to carpool,
leaving promptly at 8:30 AM. Or meet at 9:00 AM at the Main Parking
Lot at Point Mugu State Park.

To get to the park, take the Wendy Drive off ramp in Newbury Park heading south 2 miles to Lynn Road.
Turn right and proceed 1.7 miles to Via Goleta and the Park entrance
on the Left. Drive to the third parking lot and we will leave from there.

If you have any questions, contact the event coordinator, Kathy Kunz.

January Mammoth Trip – Jan 6 – 8th

Please contact Scott Anderson to sign up for the January 6 -8 trip to Mammoth.

This is a drive up trip and we and should be loads of fun. Even though Mammoth right now is lacking real snow, they have made tons and tons of snow that isn’t too bad. And the group always has fun.
